CNTE - The Workers' National Confederation in Education - on March 12th and 13th 2009, held an important Seminar whose objective was, starting from the event, to give continuation to the union formation project - possibly using the technologies of information and communication (TICs) -, already developed by the Confederation. With the support of the Union of Educators of Sweden (LÄRARFÖRBUNDET) and the collaboration of ESTUDO, Estratégia e Informação - a company which develops educational projects using new technologies - the Seminar' subject was: The Internet and the union educators.
The first day of the Seminar was divided into two parts.
The first consisted of a discussion panel whose theme was:
The working class and the appropriation of new technologies. The following persons participated: Roberto Franklin of Leão (CNTE´s president), Juçara Maria Dutra Viera (IEAL´s vice-president and member of CNTE´s executive direction), Marta Regina Domingues (an advisor for SNF/CUT) and Júlio César Martins Viana (the president of CUT/MT).
The second also consisted of a discussion panel. The theme was:
The use of TICs as a resource, the use of the computer in a union entity and the use of the personal page. The following persons participated: Gumercindo Milhomem Neto (the director of ESTUDO, Strategy and Information Ltda, APEOESP´s former president and CPB´s former regional vice-president. Basílio Miranda (a systems analyst, a technical director for Agit Informática and technically responsible for APEOESP´s Center of Data processing) and Beatriz Rizek (a teacher at the School of the Future at USP, the University of São Paulo).
The theme of the event was justified because of the importance of the continuation of the Formation Program: due to the difficulties found during the development
of the union formation (difficulties regarding a lack of investment, a lack of financial resources in the entities, distances and hard-to-reach places, displacement costs
and multiple activities, among others). Thus, to discuss the possibility of formation at a distance and with the use of TICs, it was an important step for the continuation
of the project.
The second day was reserved for the participants regarding practical subjects, based on the discussions promoted by the panels from the first day of the event.
All of the Seminar´s material is available in this site (the panel´s main texts, summaries of what was discussed, the essence of the Program, programming of the
event and pictures) as well as a video which presents the synthesis of the event, through the talks given by the lecturers.
